How to Complete a Lawn Mower Oil Change

Staying on top of your mower’s regular maintenance and care is the best way to ensure your model lasts a lifetime! One of the most important maintenance tasks you can perform on your mower is regular oil changes, as this improves the overall service life and longevity of your model’s engine. To learn how to complete this important task from the comfort of your home, just read through the helpful instructions below.
Here are a few important tips when changing the oil for your lawn mower!
Draining the Oil
Before you begin draining your mower’s old oil, we recommend running the engine for at least 2 to 3 minutes to allow the oil to heat up and quickly drain into the container below. After a few minutes, turn off the engine and place your lawn mower up onto the blocks. Position your container under your model’s drain plug and use your socket wrench to quickly remove it, and allow the old oil to pour out into the container below.
Replacing the Filter
While the old oil is draining, use some of your fresh oil to clean your drain plug and saturate your new filter before its insertion. Once these components are ready and your model’s old oil has finished draining, use your socket wrench to remove the bolts holding the dirty filter in place. Be sure to wipe down and clean these bolts with fresh oil, before using them to insert and secure your new filter in place. Afterward, reinsert the drain plug and refill your model with fresh oil before placing your lawn mower back into storage!
